The Pursuit of Aspiration

Updated: Apr 21, 2022

My Chosen Career Path.

“Fortune does favor the bold and you'll never know what you're capable of if you don't try.” ― Sheryl Sandberg, Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead

I am about to embark on a new chapter in my life, which will begin in a few months' time. This is a chapter that is somewhat relevant to the real world. It appears to be fascinating and enjoyable to see fresh faces, meet new people, and listen to their experiences. However, it is putting a lot of pressure on me because I am still undecided about what I want to pursue in college.

Engineer is my default response whenever I'm asked in school activities what I want to be or want to be more of in the future. It is just that my strengths were somewhat linked to this particular career path. This title screams honor, and what they do is absolutely fascinating. I am also always taken by the sight of those opulent skyscrapers and mansions. It's for this reason that I had the idea that one day I wanted my name to be known and linked whenever people saw such incredible infrastructure. But when I think about the future, there is always a tinge of hesitancy in my mind. Would it make me happy if I went after it? Would it assist me in uplifting our living situation? I just have a lot on my mind currently. I don't want to let my family down because, as the oldest of my siblings, I am well aware that they are putting their hope in me.

My decisions about what I want to pursue in the future have shifted in recent months. When I was younger, the concept of becoming a doctor crossed my mind. However, it never lasts since it takes a significant amount of time and money to become a successful one. The things that I am precisely lacking. But now I'm beginning to see that if something is truly what I want, there may be a variety of options for me to pursue it as long as I am committed to it.

I am now certain that I will pursue biology as a pre-medical subject to prepare for medical school. Despite the fact that I am not particularly gifted in science, I wish to pursue a career in it. After all, the point of studying is to gain knowledge, and I am sure that biology will provide me with a vast amount of knowledge, not just in the class but also in other aspects of life. Certainly, other courses could accomplish the same thing, but I knew in my heart that this was where I would be most fulfilled. I'm not sure if I'll be able to pursue a medical degree, but being a biologist will be an excellent career choice for me.

Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) strands have provided me with numerous career prospects. Despite the difficulties that I have had during my senior high school years, this makes me thrilled, and I am assured that I am on the correct path. I will always be thankful for the lessons, memories that my teacher and classmates provided me.
